Laser Design, Inc. (LDI), a global provider of dimensional inspection and 3D scanning equipment and services, welcomed Rus Emerick in March of this year as its Director of Applications Engineering.
Emerick joins LDI after a distinguished career at Schneider Electric. During his 21 years at Schneider, he served as their Process Improvement Specialist and 3D Imaging Global Process Owner. He specialized in 3D laser scanning, computed tomography (CT) analysis, reverse engineering, global management, and training.
Key to his success was the development, integration and deployment of processes necessary for introduction of new technologies across a multinational corporation. He implemented CT scanning and other types of 3D scanning technologies throughout Schneider worldwide, resulting in substantial savings, improved quality and faster time-to-market.
Rus Emerick is among the world’s foremost experts in 3D scanning technology, and was integral in Laser Design’s decision to enter the industrial CT scanning field early this summer. Emerick can be credited for the popularization of the term industrial forensics, which refers to the entire process of analyzing 3D scan data to solve industrial problems. LDI anticipates becoming a leader in industrial forensics and CT analysis.
Laser Design’s entrance into industrial CT scanning includes sales of CT scanners in addition to LDI’s already-robust catalog of 3D CT scanning and analysis services. Speaking about his new role at Laser Design, Emerick explains, “What I’d really like is for us to be known as the CT and industrial forensics professionals.” Benefitting from Emerick’s expertise, Laser Design is already well on its way to reaching that goal.
