Heritage
Historical buildings and structures can be digitally reconstructed as they currently exist. Reconstructed as-built 3D models assist greatly in historic preservation and restoration planning. Structure scanning is a useful addition to every State Historic Preservation Office project.
Museums and schools have been able to share items of historical significance with a wide audience without compromising the original objects by creating exact digital replicas of cultural artifacts. Precise metrology has allowed researchers and scientists to conduct faunal, ceramic, and lithic analysis—sometimes from opposite ends of the planet.
